Visa Cost And Documentation

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a few questions regarding my obtaining a Non-Immigrant B visa for Thailand. My boyfriend and I are Americans, aged 25 and 32 respectively. We are going to Vientiane, Laos this week to get our 90-day visa, but we were wondering how much that visa will cost? Also, is it possible to make that a multi-entry visa? And very importantly, does anyone who has done this RECENTLY know what exact documentation we will need? It seems like that information is always changing. Thanks so much!

Required paperwork to apply for a non immigrant Type B Visa Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Non immigrant Type B Visa

You will have great difficulty getting a one year multiple non B in Vientiane, Laos - even if you already have valid Thai Work Permits and the correct paperwork.

Thanks a lot digitalchromakey - we're just talking about a non B (teacher's) visa for 90 days - does that come with multi-entry? Does it cost more or is it all the same? We're on a tight budget as of now, what do you think we're looking at cost-wise?

Thanks again.

Single entry should be 2,000 baht and a multi 5,000 baht. You should be getting single and then extending you stay in Thailand later for 1,900 baht. Your employer should be providing you this information so make sure they are legit if not doing so. You are going to be able to obtain work permits I hope.

You are correct . I just came back from Laos and the Thai embassy only gives 90 days, one entry is B2,000. I think Multiple entry is B 5,000. I had a two year work permit already issued. Now I must go to Immigration in about 60 days to see what paperwork they will need to give me a one year extension.

Ok, thanks everyone. So the visa to go into Laos is only like $35.00 US right? And we can get it on the Friendship Bridge so we do not need to get it beforehand? Thanks!

Correct. The only time you need to obtain visa in advance would be for through bus service to Vientiane as they do not stop long enough for visa issue.

Thanks Lopburi!!

And the Laos visa is indeed $35.00? Do they take Baht or American dollars or is it necessary to switch into Kip.

Thanks in advance for anyone's assistance!

Have not been there for 35 years but believe both dollars and baht are used. Kip is used for change and local purchase in restaurants and such.

Hello?

And the Laos visa is indeed $35.00 at the Friendship Bridge? Anyone know for sure....?

:jap:

It depends on your Nationality.

I think for U.S it is 1,500 Baht.

The 30 day visa on arrival in the Lao PDR is available at all ports of entry in Laos including the airports of the main cities. Vientiane, Luang Prabang and Pakse. You should try to have one photo. Visa cost ranges from $20 (China) to $42 (Canada). Sweden is $31, $35 for the USA, UK and most of Europe, $40 for India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and $30 for Australia and other countries. The full list is on display at the Visa Application window.

As replied the cost is different based on nationality, but if you pay in U.S. dollars the cost is less than in you pay in Bhat. In Bhat the $42.00 U.S becomes B1,500. for a Canadian.
