Most of the local operations (Mom and Pop) don't have many cars readily available for short term rental

Rented a car last week for 6 days. It was from Budget located near Mikes Shopping Mall and i booked it thru Fast CarHire who i have used numerous times without complaint. It was the cheapest car hire of all the" big" car hir companies but u will no doubt find cheaper in Pattaya with the smaller companys.

DV car rental

this company are excellent.

she speaks good english and the cars are nearly new

most importantly, the insurance is first class

i have used them many times

they will even deliver the car

(oh and for the cynics its not me or a relative)

Don't bother with a car in Bangkok, the traffic and parking are a hassle.

Just take the bus or a taxi to and from bangkok and use the skytrain and taxi in Bangkkok.

For sure don't rent a car for Bangkok. You can get taxis to take you around much cheaper in BKK than the cost of a rental car...and no worries about parking! Heck, you can hire one for a day for about what you would pay for a rental...then just sit in the back seat and enjoy your beer!
