Travel Insurance For Thai Visiting Uk

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a travel insurance for my Thai wife's visit to the UK please? I would prefer something I could do online if possible, there are too many to choose from so looking for a personal recommendation. Who did you use?

Cheers.

We always use World Nomads who are underwritten by BUPA, and have found them to be very straightforward and competitive, you can do everything online, even extend the length of the cover when you are away.

They offer a discount on subsequent bookings and if you enter the code "WNNOV10" when you book you get a 7% discount, I'm pretty sure that code changes every month.

Have you looked at Thai Visa Insurance, they are pretty good though I have never used them for travel insurance, only motor.

As a Thai Visa member you have the benefit of using the full Broker service for all levels of Travel Insurance by asking for a quote online HERE

I use these guys on a regular basis. We had a claim due to theft in Portugal. No hassles to get our money.

I usually use the BUPA Thailand medical travel insurance, don't think it covers theft / flight cancellations though but the Brit Embassy is not really bothered about that for visas, only medical cover.

In fact the British Embassy don't stipulate that you have travel insurance, though I agree that it would be foolish not to have it. The Schengen States do require proof of adequate insurance.

Hi Texasranger

I always book my travel using my credit card which gives me automatic travel insurance. I don't know if all credit card companies provide the same thing but it's worth checking out for future even if it's too late now.

I do pay an annual fee for my card but I travel at least twice a year which more than covers the fee with free travel insurance. I have had reason to make two claims for stolen luggage which have been honoured without hesitation.

Thanks a lot for the input guys, appreciate it. I have been looking at world nomads on the net with mixed reviews but I guess you will get that with all companies. Cheers again.

Hi,

Do you know how they define family for obtaining a quote as I can't find it on their website?

I'm not sure, there is a contact page on their FAQ section,

When I first used them I insured myself, my Thai girlfriend and her two children.

I just tried a ghost booking and it accepted four dependents of different names.
