cdnvic
Some of them give us inspiration, and sometimes it's just a joy to view their work. Robert Dawson Dawson's work centres on the American west. His horses, and amazing landscapes remind me of all I love about the North American plains. A print of one of his most famous, Thundercloud is on my wall at the moment. I've always been an enthusiast of shooting weather. http://dawsonphotography.com/ Note on copyright: Please keep examples in this thread at small, or thumbnail size, and provide a link to the photographer. Goshawk
Somchai Kanchanasut from Bangkok - without doubt, the greatest photographer of the wild Birds of Thailand... the first bird is an Olive-backed Sunbird, the second is Thick-billed Green Pigeon.. His amazing gallary of images is vast & increases almost daily.. here it is on Flickr in this field, he is the envy of many & the rival of very few.. AussieKenny
Shrimp used to do very distinctive calendar shoots in the late eighties, early nineties. Lived in BKK but use the islands for shoots. Don't know where he got to. Kenny
Tywais
Seems the first person I think of is Ansel Adams. He has the ability to make 2D B&W images look three dimensional. cdnvic
John Bulmer Bulmer was one of photojournalism's pioneers in colour photography. He came to prominence working for the Sunday Times, later with The Daily Express and other publications. http://www.johnbulmer.co.uk/ Not to be confused with an American photographer of the same name. bazmlb
Richard Bennett, most of his shots are taken hanging out the side of a light aircraft, the picture on his front page is one of a famous yacht called wild thing, which I later purchased and did the 1998 Sydney to Hobart on, he has taken many pictures of my yachts and always fantastic results. I have also attached two shots he took of another yacht I owned.

FBN
Interest in photography started waaayyy back in the early 60's; the guy that inspired me? Sam Haskins. (an easy Google for his creative images...) Started with a hand-me-down box from a brother in law.. Me, not him, clearly!! Alas, have not much improved since!! Again, me, not Sam! richardjm65
Tywais already mentioned Ansell Adams (I have some of his work on my walls). For sheer genius when it comes to sailing boats, try the Beken family's work - think they got started in the 1880's. You could look at some of their work on www.beken.co.uk or google Beken of Cowes.
