DENPASAR, BALI (BNO NEWS) -- An Indonesian man is facing a 15-year prison term for a series of child rapes carried out in the island of Bali, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Mochammad Davis Suharto, also known as Codet, which translates to Scarface, 30, allegedly raped five elementary school girls in Bali, aged 9 to 12, between February and April, as well as another six girls, aged 5 to 11, in Batam, Riau Islands.

On February 13, at around 3:30 p.m. local time, Suharto approached his first victim in Bali, who was with her friends in Subur Street in the Monang-Maning area. After convincing the victim that her parents were in the Sanur area of the city, she followed him. He then took her into an empty building where she was raped.

According to the information presented in the Denpasar District Court, if the victims fought back, Suharto would strangle them until they became unconscious and raped them.

Police officers accidentally located and arrested Suharto, originally from Lamongan, East Java, on May 16, during a raid in Kuta, but he had already raped another four girls.

Defense lawyer Wayan Koja said Suharto, who said he was willing to be executed, had been cooperative and confessed. After the hearing, he wept and apologized to the victims' families. During the trial, Suharto claimed magical whispers had ordered him to rape the girls, which were done to meet the "demands of supernatural beings."

Suharto is now facing a 15-year prison term and a Rp. 300 million ($37,000) fine.
