My apologies if this has already been addressed but I cannot find anything related to it on the Search function.

I have a mate in Pattaya who came into Thailand and was stamped in his passport for a 30 day entry. He now wishes to extend for 15 days.

Does he have to apply for the extension at Pattaya Immigration in person - or can this be done on his behalf by a third party?

There is no such extension of stay available. The most he could obtain is 7 days and a ticket out might be required. If he needs to stay 15 more days he will have to make a border run for a 15 day visa exempt entry and that must be done by him. Believe there is daily service from a number of locations in Pattaya.

Yes and may require ticket proof he is leaving within those 7 days as it is not an official extension but an under review period for an extension that will not be approved. Seven days to pack out essentially.
