christiaan
I had the experience when you can grasp the deeper inside meaning of this symbolic white string - as I did at a funeral - it is very impressing, I was deeply touched by it, despite the fact that the symbol itself was not handled with compassion and interest, just routine all the way through the ritual. Rinrada
Couple of weeks ago we had all the string around the house with our 9 monks pulling on one side the villagers on the other are we (the family) all tied up like chickens under the pyramid in the center...standard house warming procedure Been to a lot of "dos" like that in the templesover the years. Usually everyone gets connected up in a grid system with the string tied around yer head before a celebration or party. After the monks leave (the house)its out with the food and Lao Khao...cost me 10 cases but all in a good cause...everyone is there from the local Pui Yai Banns,Chief of police ..even the local Gov called in to say hello. All good community stuff....init incid ..not usually done at funerals...however TIT...
