Chiang Dao Tuesday Market?

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone has visited this market and what were your impressions lets say compared to Warorot market in Chiang Mai?

Is it just another market or is it well worth the visit, because....

thank you

If you're talking about the day market I remember, then the CD mkt can't even be compared to Warorot. The deal is that the 'dtalaat nat' draws hilltribes from all around. You see all kinds of interesting folks that you usually have to go on treks to see. It's especially fun watching ladies n kids shopping for their costume fabric. You will see real hilltribes - probably at least 4-5. I went on a photo trip a cpl years back and had a good day of fun. Warorot is just the Chinatown mkt and a place where a lot of local goods are bought n sold. But it's not a slice of old native Thailand like the CD mkt. Each have their own merits.

What's the approximate times and location of the market?

I agree, it's wonderful and I found some great products that I haven't seen other places that the hill tribes grow and got some great pics too. It's an morning market but I found it busier when I went at 9 am then another time at 7 am. It's on both sides of the main road in town (don't take the by pass).

What's the approximate times and location of the market?

The time is approximately 9am to 3pm on the main road in town

Sounds interesting. Not sure where or how to get there. Was thinking of going when my boy comes to visit. Would there be other attractions one could see. Might make it a over niter. I have no vehicle is there a mini bus going there?
