Singapore Hotel & Children

Featured Replies

Looking to stay in Singapore for two nights in December, with wife and two daughters ages 10 & 13. The Copthorne Orchid looks to be good value and says two adults, two children per room. However, child is defined as up to 12. Bums me out because we are staying at the Copthorne in Penang and they don't have a problem with that. Do you think reception are likely to make a big fuss or force us to get an extra room when we check in and they see my 13 year old? I know this is probably a dumb question, it being Singapore and rules, etc., but wonder if it worth risking? I suppose the worst they can do is force us to get an extra room if they pitch a fit. I really don't want to waste another $250+ if it can be avoided. Thanks in advance for any helpful replies. If you have a wise-arse comment please leave it on another thread, thanks.

I would be amazed if its a problem, have stayed in similar situations with daughter and friend at 14 without problems. Of course it depends on the individual hotel but I just can't see them making a fuss about this. Singapore and rules don't really come in to it. Anyways they are only going to want to see 1 passport so unless your kids look incredibly extra mature for their age can't see the problem arising.

I would think that the worst case would be they charge you for a an extra bed in your room rather than for another room.

Thank you to both who responded. I guess worse case is they charge for a bed or another room, so nothing to lose really, except $250 for an unwanted room! I will go make the reservation now, and hope it hasn't booked up in the meantime!

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

When I am booking hotels online through Agoda for 3 people there is an 'automatic' extra bed charge but when you choose the child <12 year old option the extra bed disappears. Maybe you'll have the same result?

Shouldn't be a problem if your children are not the same size as you.... :)
