Yahoo Down?

Featured Replies

today ever since about 12p i can not access my yahoo mail. after i log in on the login page it says i have a 999 error and to try again later. i am connected and i can check everything else, except my bank site which just times out... but i can not get my mail. anyone else have this problem or know why it is?

The 999 error is pretty common. Most of the time, it's because Yahoo's noted suspicious activity coming from your IP, which usually means you've connected through some sort of gateway/NAT/proxy, along with a ton of other people. Sometimes it helps to just wait, or sometimes using an alternative browser will fix it.

No problems here - tried a number of yahoo portals - all seem ok. Prob a dns problem with your provider.

the ISP's transparent proxy is at fault...

is that the same thing firefoxx said?

When you get that error..

Or the request to confirm your login with the random generated letters and numbers.. I found a simple work around..

That is go to the address bar where it says some thing like...

http://us.f506.mail.yahoo.com/ym/login? etc etc etc ..............

and change the http: bit to https: then hit enter..

No need to put in your login details again..works every time for me. :o

Probably because the ISP proxy doesn't cache https traffic ( well it shouldn't anyway )

Or just use the secure login from the start..

I had this 999 error message for weeks. Then I started using the secure login from the start.

Problem solved forever.

yeah try using the secure login.....It works....

aha, thanks for advice ! this problem bugges me often !

or, correct me if im wrong... you may be using a <deleted> thai ISP :o

I have been getting the same sh1t for about two months now. I complained to yahoo and they told me its my isp, I use two isp TRUE and CSLOXINFO I only get the problem when I use CSLOXINFO. Now I always use the secure log in and no longer have problems. Hope that helps. :o
