I got email at work today about a planned demonstration by the red shirts tomorrow form 8am to 9pm around Rajaprasong and that the expected 10,000 - 15,000 people to show up. There was no mention of this on the news that I am aware of.

Not 19 to 22, only 19 from what I heard.

Over 10,000 people? Could be true because I heard from a friend of my wife that his red contact told him that he'll get 1,500 bath if he comes, that's 3 times what he gets at his normal work so he'll go all right

Don't plan on any shopping near Central World and Silom.

Well I'll be going shopping... for more of those hand clappers and the headbands, and the scarves... Xmas is coming you know... ph34r.gif

Don't these farang goons ever give up?

Reporting that many red skirts who go to Ratchaprasong today are getting 1,500 bath is important, that's 2 - 3 times their normal salary and is clearly undermining democracy in Thailand.

If you knew people who were given 1,500 bath every time they went to demonstrate and didn't bother to go if they didn't get any money, wouldn't you for democracys sake want people to post it here?

Red SKIRTS?Maybe the mongers will be out in force, Just to observe, mind you 1,500 BATHS.What would they want with 1,500 baths. How would they carry them?if, say 10,000 people go,that would be about 15,000,000 baths .Could buy that many baths in Thailand?

Please read forum netiquette before commenting needlessly on someone else's spelling. Many non native english speakers use the spelling bath for Baht. So, rather than hijack the thread with that, best just figure it out. cheers

Rather be a Farang Goon than a red shirt goon! :w00t:

Of course you would. You are a farang goon. You have farang money. You can afford to eat, drink and be merry. They can't.

+1 greenie for you.

that is all they do, eat drink. and gamble the rest of there money away. if they did an honest days work and saved a little money for there childrens education it would then be worthwhile for the government to help them.

its like the Council Estates back home, most of the people living on them are scroungers and do not try to help themselves. Then complaining and then demanding that they run the country.

I think your avatar says it all. Drink until he's cute. And what might the drink be?Certainly, not Lao Khao. They eat and drink, as you do. But what do they eat and drink, and what do farang eat and drink? There is a world of difference . Farang have money, Isarn Thais do not.

Off topic baiting post has been removed. If anyone has something to add about the actual demonstration and its effects that might be a tad more relevant the current bickering. cheers.

Demonstration, yes. A perfectly valid tool to express opinion if held according to democratical principles and a sad mockery of democracy if money is the deciding factor for if most people come or not.

There was another demonstration held a bit over a month back. Anyone remember? Less than 200 people came. I was fortunate to know beforehand that it wasn't going to attract a large crowd so I didn't change my plans for the day. How did I know? Ui said that that the people going won't get any money and I asked if he thought there would be many people coming. The answer came quickly, no money = few people. Guess what, he was right.

What about the topic of this thread, 19 Novermber? I posted before the demonstrations that many people would be getting money so there would be quite a crowd coming. What happened? Many people came.

The demonstrate for money sceme is well organised afarang, it's built up like a telephone tree. It's not one person taking care of 10,000 people

I find you taking up the spelling and grammar of the Thai currency to be quite telling in itself; It tells me that you don't associate with Thais and speak Thai enough, if you had, then you wouldn't have cared, just like the Thais don't care. Even more so regarding the grammar; There is no plural in Thai, a bath is a bath, many bath is still bath, or baht. Those who speak a lot of Thai every day wouldn't try to put a plural s on bath (or baht)

Happy Posting :)
