Hiring Someone To Look After An Elderly Person

Featured Replies

How difficult would it be, and what would be the costs, of hiring someone (preferably a Thai woman with some qualification and speaking some English) to look after an elderly foreign lady? I don't mean someone to live in (though I may eventually mean that as well :( ). Any advice would be very much appreciated. If someone on this forum has any experience with such matters, please share.

Thank you.

An important factor will be if you need a nurse or just someone. The level of qualifications will be an important factor in the cost, as will the level of English be.

But there have been questions about this in the past, do a forum search and also look in the health section and you might get more information.

It is not difficult at all to hire a qualified nurse to look after an elderly person.

The cost depends on the time of day, the hour and the sort of services you require.

It costs us about 12k for day only care but I would suspect it would be more in Central region.

You need to interview a few, but then there are not too many who could converse in English either.

Is the patient bed ridden or is the person only limited in mobility? which also affect the cost of care.

Any way, Good luck to you, especially the lady.

Up in CM the people working at the Altzheimers place (all English speaking patients) get around 10kbht a month ..... 10hr shifts 6 days a week.

Lady I know who works there, late 30s speaks a bit of English ...... enought to communicate with the patients.

You need to tell us where you are, BKK or CM, finding someone whos speaks English not so hard.

Wages will aslo vary depending on location
