I could make a cup of tea on it it's so hot and i worry it may damage my drive.

its a 3.5 inch one and i'm going to put a fan on it if i can.

I got it cause it was smaller tan the others as it didn't have a fan but if i was getting another one would get a builtin fan for sure.

made in china. 700baht.

Cool as a cucumber, but it has a fan!!  :o

Same with mine and also has a fan. Little larger case allowing for better heat dissapation.

2.5" enclosures for notebook-size harddisks don't have fans, since most notebook drives run at 4200rpm or 5400rpm, and generate little heat. 3.5" desktop drives on the other hand, are mostly 7200rpm, and they generate tremendous amounts of heat. If you leave it in the "can fry an egg" state for too long, it will lead to premature failure. If you're going to use an enclosure without a fan, use a 5400rpm harddisk. Otherwise, get an enclosure with a fan.

fixed it

added a pc fan via big screws and leave the case of

7200rpm

by simply pluging in the back of HD and attaching under

better than losing all the data.
