Why US Pornmakers Remain Unfazed By Thailand’s ‘Tough Stance’ On The Exploitation Of Women

Maybe if the multitude of 'Middle-men' who buy their rice, paid a greater proportion of their profits to the farmers, things might be different.

Simple fact is prostitution is so rampant because these women are lazy and would rather use their body to get money then spend all day working on the farm. Why work at Mc Donalds for 6,500 baht a month when you can earn that in one night with a couple of men?

The girls obvoiusly knew they were being filmed.

He tells the girls that videos will not be seen in Thailand. That’s a lie of course.

It says they knew they would be on internet so they mutually agreed to it. If something gets on to internet, it's awailable to anyone anywhere.

And I don't see how it is a lie, unless he deliberatelly distributed the movies locally and posted them on the Thai servers

Just a case of everyone exploiting everyone else. The girls end up at the bottom of the pile, but I doubt they could be described as an 'innocent' party.

If they had not consented then they are 'innocent' - if they consented to being filmed and those films being distributed and money made from those films sale (and assuming they got a hefty fee) then, yes, they are not 'innocent'. It 'appears' they had not consented and even those at the 'bottom' deserve respect in my opinion.

That they agreed to the filming is not disputed.

Quote from the linked article.

" ‘tough stance’ on the exploitation of women" :ermm:

What stance is that?

They have a tough stance on porn making which may or may not be exploitation depending on the conditions, but a tough stance on the exploitation of women in Thailand.?

Thanks for my laugh of the day.

And people think that things are different back home in the UK ? prostitution is illegal back there but the good old British tax man will still demand his cut of a prostitutes take in income tax even though it is illegal ! So we have the British Government pimping whores to rake in the tax revenue !

There are a quite few internet sites that do exactly the same thing as this guy is doing here.

The girls have all agreed to be filmed. Paid to be filmed. So just where is the big problem here?

How many have brought a case against this guy ? I would imagine ZERO!!!!

This whole thing stinks of a BIB getting a tip off and wanting his tea money, which it appears he has got.

When they close down Pattaya I will believe they mean to clamp down on all this ILLEGAL sexploitation!

YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The biggest worry, though, is how this guy got off multiple chargeable offences.

Those girls poor? he's relatively rich? go figure - it's disgraceful

Surely if the Government aided the 'poor' girls from the 'countryside' they would not have to resort to prostitution, which is what they are lets face it, prostitutes (women who sell sex for money) and why aren't those girls in jail ? I thought prostitution was illegal here ?

You seem set on making your poster name true, or maybe I have a different sense of humour

on this one we 100% agree!

They still had sex for money, it's illegal so they're criminals too !

OK so what if you live in Isaan or another poor part of the country, you are a young girl with no prospects and your family is poor. They want you to help them. All you have are your charms and a chance of a rich husband. For this you want to put them in jail? It's the exploiters and those who protect them need locking up.

Try looking up the definition of compassion

Spot on!!! this poster has no idea at all - he seems to think these girls 'enjoy' their trade or have a CHOICE

What's with everyone saying the girls didn't consent?

He said they would not be available in Thailand. He put them on a US site, that (supposedly) can only be accessed from a proxy server.

Who in their right mind uses a proxy server to access porn overseas when it is so freely available, anyone can get it free with a few clicks? It is reasonable to assume nobody would waste their time using a slow a$ proxy when they can get it FREE without one elsewhere.

And the pirate DVDs they are using in the story- who pirated them??? Can't they see the hypocrisy of this article???

Poor country girls being taken advantage of by rich playboy! Oh my! The shame of it!

The truth is that a sex tourist (not saying it's wrong, just saying what it is) has an agreement with local women to have sex for money (illegal on BOTH sides) to film it for pornography (illegal on BOTH sides yet again) and distribute it overseas only (which he is doing and is NOT illegal).

Both parties are guilty, and Thailand's piracy problem is the root cause of these girls finding their videos on Sukhumvit Road.

Who gets painted as the bad guy for Thailand's piracy? The original creator of the content!!!!

This whole article is a joke.

EDIT: spelling and added a sentence or two for clarity

You're very correct.

Tony Poer selected and recruited the girls, then filmed them and put the images up on websites. The fact that the girls, 'Allowed' themselves to be filmed, is a somewhat debatable excuse given that someone as manipulative as Poer, is doing the persuading.

Of course something needs to be done so that girls and their parents from the poorer regions of Thailand no longer feel that this trade, is likely to increase their standard of living, faster than most other methods of 'Employment'. Maybe if the multitude of 'Middle-men' who buy their rice, paid a greater proportion of their profits to the farmers, things might be different.

Thank Buddha someone actually said something sensible and conscious.

So this guy comes to Thailand with the sole intention of paying poor, uneducated - in most cases desperate and in terms of making videos for distribution 'naive' - girls for sex, only to then broadcast himself around the world dominating them like dogs. Hmmmm - sounds like a really nice guy, I am sure his parents and fellow countrymen are proud. It is unbelievable how many people jump on this thread saying stuff to the tune of ,'the girls are acting illegally by prostituting themselves', and 'they have consented so what's the problem'. Sometimes I wonder if I am one of very few humans left with any compassion at all. Most of these women will be from the North East and the North, where sexual dignity and modesty is, contrary to popular belief very important and innate in the majority. Yet these women are selling their self-respect, dignity, integrity, culture, values and their family name for 1,000 -2,000 baht a time. Ask yourself why? Why are so many women in this position, and why are there so many men waiting in the wings to exploit their social status? What does this say about us as people, as humans, as foreigners, as sons of women and as brothers of sisters...imagine that was your daughter, your mum or your wife. Before you judge these women and condemn them as lazy, money grabbing whores, who love sex and consent to their actions , go and read some history, some case studies and facts on Thailand. Learn the reasons why this industry exists as it does...I guarantee once you know the truth behind the miniskirts and smiles you will change the way you think and certainly think twice before making such silly statements that focus on everything but the real issues at hand.

"At the bottom of the pile" ???

Really??? Making more money they probably ever could given their backgrounds. Making additional money being filmed and consenting to it, assuming they weren't conned. Then get discover that the movie industry is profiting from the videos and they become unhappy with what they already agreed to. Suddenly they are "exploited women".

Using that definition they'd have to shut down Pattaya and other venues but how likely is that where the word Gxd is spelled = money

The guy that was dominating them and treating them like dogs was a Brit, "Nasty Nigel." He owns a website called asian streetmeat. He is a real nasty person. Both Tony and Nigel are easy to find on the net if you doubt my point. I don't know if anyone has mentioned it but the really bad thing about Tony is he didn't wear a condom. Nasty Nigel as nasty as he was wore a condom most of the time. It might be worthwhile to watch the Tony movies so you will know who not to pick up in Pattaya. Scary stuff. Most of the ladies he uses worked at go go bars and made 30,000 plus baht per month (save your tears for the poor Thai farm girls because his models were Pattaya well paid pros).

He did nothing wrong. Besides the Drugs and Visa overstay ofcourse.

But it is not his fault that Thailand's Internet users paying for Proxy to see all websites out there.

Also, he did not pirate his own porn burn it onto DVDs and than sell it out on the street.

He told the Girls that he will make a Video wile they have sex and broadcast it on his website. The Girls agree and what i thing is that they get more money from him as the usual birds out there for a short time.

He runs legal porn site in the US, so what???

You don't need a proxy. You can download direct from Thailand almost anything Tony made or Nigel for free. Nor do you have to go to his website. PS a go go girl working in Pattaya for 30 grand is not dumb enough to think her images will not be available anywhere. They are internet pros. I watched them in internet shops in Pattaya work ten guys at a time. These ladies are professional hustlers.

As this post states, there are far worse pornographers trawling the Pattaya bars for 'models'. One of the worst is Klaus of klaussextour.com and a few other Thai porn sites, who makes a virtue of the fact that he only pays the normal short-time rate and says nothing about where the photos will end up. He also writes accompanying stories that describe the liaison and uses their real names and details. He makes a point of describing how he tricks the girls into thinking he's using a condom. Some of the photos are fairly horrific with it looking fairly obvious that while consensual in terms of the commercial sex for money transaction, the photos are not. Horrible stuff and I hope the authorities catch up with him too.

Right on.

I know Thai women that come from middle class families, well educated and have good decent well paying jobs.

The problem is the more they have, the more they want and when they find that working hard for a living doesn’t support they’re high profile, high spending, high flying lifestyle, they turn to prostitution as a side line or some even on a permanent basis.

It`s just the way these women are, money comes before reputation, family and dignity.

Just take a peek of what your friends are up to on facebook and other social networking websites and all will be revealed.

The reason this guy has been arrested and not his participants is because for example if you have 4 persons in a vehicle, the ultimate responsibility for what happens before they reach they’re destination lays with the driver

The article is so biased. I read here a lot, but don't normally post as I don't really care to try to enlighten as you people can believe what you want, but it's just unbelievable how gullible some people are--and I ain't talking about the girls. Those girls all consented and probably begged him to film them so they could earn the money as it's more money to be made in one night than going with customers all week. I have a many friends who own bars and a-go-go and most hate when these sleazy porn makers film their girls, but not because the girls are being exploited any more so than pimps at the bars, but because the girls almost never report to work the next day as the girls have made enough money that they usually decide to take a few unannounced days off from their regular exploited prostitution jobs. Some girls use the money to return back home and get away from the regular life of prostitution. Yet other girls enjoy this life and are eager to return back to their bars the next day to be pimped out.

The bottom line is that these girls knew they were being filmed. They only denied it after someone saw the content and they were embarrassed and then claimed they didn't know they were being filmed (they missed the guy in the corner holding the camera) or they were told it was for personal use only. No one ever seems to mention that the girls ALL signed releases which explains in detail what the content was going to be used for. And the girls had to pose with their ID cards as proof of their age. If the girl had a small thought that it might be for person use once they were asked to sign something and pose with their ID card that thought would quickly be out of their mind. Rest assured all these girls signed a release and posed with their ID cards as no company would touch the content without it. Meaning, this guy wouldn't have been able to sell it to any other company as anyone buying it would get into serious trouble with the US government.

It always amazes me when I read these biased reports from people who don't know sh#t about the industry and what's really going on. No I am not a porn producer and have no desire to ever get involved in anything dealing with that, but I'm not stupid either as these reports would seem to think we are to believe the bias.

What it comes down to is these girls losing face when proof is discovered of what they do every night. And usually because some stupid guy got mad when he discovered what his girlfriend is doing while he's away. The girl that slapped him in the police station I am sure loved him and probably called him her favorite customer until her boyfriend found out what she was really doing when she claimed to be back in her village and he thus stopped sending her money and broke off the engagement.

I know a few of these sleazy guys that shoot porn and they say they usually try to talk the girls out of doing this as the last thing they'd want is a girl to regret it later--so many willing girls that no need to trick anyone and also no need to get someone that might regret it later which could lead to problems. They say that most girls are insistent about being filmed as they love it and love the money. The few that decline fall into 2 categories, (1) those that want more money, and (2) those that have several boyfriends sending them money who they don't want to see what they are really doing. Yet, even those that fall into the second category "will" often then turn around and offer to shoot if they are paid more money to do it. Money motivates most of these girls and they only get pissed when they end up losing money because they boyfriend sees them on film and thus stops sending them money.

Yes, there are a lot of decent girls in Thailand, but please stop talking about all these innocent girls in Pattaya, Bangkok, and Phuket that traveled there from somewhere else in the country seeking a job as a librarian at one of the many fine libraries these tourist towns have to offer.

My dream is for all the sleazy porn guys to be thrown out of Thailand, all the bars, a-go-gos, massage parlors, and karaokes which are ALL simply just whore houses run by pimps to be shut down, and absolutely all types of exchanging sex for money to be completely eliminated in this country. But my biggest dream is for some of you guys to WAKE UP and stop being so gullible! I think my first dream is much more likely to happen than the later.

I really have no idea what and where the author gets his information from

for starters girls are paid 10 000-12 000 per scene

They also sign waivers

So they are well aware of what they doing.

Also i personally know 5 girls who have ben featured in his movies and i can assure you they were well aware and were well paid and as a result of the movies now charge double of not triple for their time and are in high demand from the tourists.

Also a large number of the girls do webcaming, and many are from gogo bars. So if they not worried about locals seeing them naked and doing it on the cam, i really do not understand how all over sudden they mind.

If anything, to avoid being charged with prostitution they have come up with this excuse, "i did not know, he tricked me"

I would think that Thaksin has exploited millions more people than this Guy, I agree that its exploitation but i have visited Soi 6 in Pattaya and Walking street Go-go's many times, i am not into filming but i have to fight girls off in Soi 6 etc.. (as you all do).

I have been charged Double for entry into Museums, Parks, Temples etc, Been charged 5x a Thai for a Baht bus home.

The Beach in Pattaya is crap, the roads are crap, the people are (mostly) crap... the Police are crap, the immigration is crap, the Baht buses are crap,

BUT... its busy and making money for many, So C'mon guys.. Exploitation?

These guys that make Porn are not good but the word Exploitation has to be used carefully...

Yes he makes money ... but when i walk down Soi 6 or in the Go-go bars the 'Hello Welcome' is there all the time..!

I suspect some girls are exploited but many of them are freelance, they want the money............. so.........??
