I see no reason why it should be closed. These border checkpoints are open every day of the year, including public holidays, and Christmas is not even a holiday in Thailand. The only times I heard about a border point being closed was when there were military skirmishes on a border.

it was closed a couple of weeks ago maybe just for a few days and i saw on the news today footage of it open with people crossing again so i assume it's open again, like the prevous post says it's usually open 99% of the time so doubtful a problem for you,

best bet it to find a telephone number and call day or two your due to go.

if your first time then it's 10$ in new notes or 500 Baht to enter burma (tachilek) for the day if you wish or just pay money and say no shopping in tachilek and they give you passport straight back and you can go back into thailand.

i have just seen your going xmas day ! - should be fine i doubt will make any difference.

If there is a major holiday in burma the main immigration office will be closed in burma but the border checkpoint will be open.

The only way this affects us is that they cannot accept usa dollars and you will have to have thai baht 500.

I doubt christmas is such a major holiday but you never know so be prepared to pay 500 baht just in case.
