I'm currently in Thailand on a Tourist Visa on Arrival (because I had been working in Cambodia and coming in/out of Thailand).

Now I am staying to work in Thailand as Manager of my hotel in Phuket, (I am sole director of the Thai ltd company that owns this business).

So I need to quickly change my visa type so that I can get a work Permit.

From my base in Phuket, which is the quickest and easiest destination (Singapore, KL or Penang) to obtain a multi non-immigrant visa? I could go for a B visa, based upon my intended employment, or I could go for an O visa, based upon my Thai son.

In any case, my bank book shows 350k baht recent balance, but I cannot increase this right now - too many expenses at the hotel :)

I did obtain a multi O 2 years ago from Penang without any problems...

I've checked the pinned thread on obtaining visas, but would appreciate any further advice.

Thanks

Simon

Do not know of any local Consulate that routinely issues multi entry O for dependent - for wife yes but often requires proof of bank account money.

Penang will issue multi B from reports for 8 million baht company paperwork but not sure of details. Believe KL might be a better choice.

I have a friend that has a Thai daughter, but they don't give him a non o visa. They give him a tourist visa then when he's in Phuket, he goes to immigration and they give him a 60 day extension based on his dependent. I would think the B visa would be the way to go for you if you're not legally married.

Agree with Lop, best try to get a multiple non-B in KL.

The multiple non-O is not sure anywhere in Asia, while I believe Penang will only issue a multiple non-B if you have a WP with at least 8 month validity, besides the capital requirements. But there are reports on that to check the requirements for a multiple non-B in Malaysia.

You should apply for the WP and get the wp3 form from labour.

Per lopburi3 and mario, KL looks like the place to go. I have often flown HKT-KL via AirAsia and it is a good and low-cost flight, much recommended. Can take the express bus from the LCCT to KL Sentral for 9 ringgit, taxi to the Thai consulate. Taxi from LCCT to consulate would be about 50 ringgit.
