1) Why are blind itinerant musicians so unmusical here? (There's one outside Liberty Square and all she does is bang two sticks together and groan).

..so unlike Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and that guy from 'Peters and Lee'.

2) What happened to the War on Dark Influences? Is it over and how many people got shot?

Many blind people are trained in institutions as buskers. They are the ones who have some small musical ability. Some beggars think that they will get more money if they pretend to be buskers.

Did anyone ever notice that that lad that begs near the World Trade Center and apparently has no arms – has got arms up the back of his shirt?

I really do think that this is an occasion where we might contemplate what we would do were we to find ourselves in the lamentable situations that led these buskers to do what they do. Just a thought!
