Actually I own quite a few firearms because I compete but.... for home protection the one I have designated is an 18" 12 ga Remington express ...

Another sound measure for protection of home and family is to subdue the compulsion to tell everyone that you own lots and lots of gold.

I think you did the right thing .... you don't want to spend time in a Thai jail or start a fued with the locals just to protect possesions. Protecting your family would be a different issue though. I agree with the other post ... better protection to keep people out, or move.

My security system in Thailand is simple: I live in a building that is owned by a Thai family such that any would-be burglar would have to consider whether he wishes for he and his family to continue to live in the Province before he would mess with the Management or any of its tenants.
