rockyysdt
Hi all. I have reasonable knowledge with Plasma, LCD, & LCD LED panel TV's but unfamiliar with the Thai retail market. Are there any reputable discount stores recommended in Bangkok? I understand the Thai system is PAL 240volts. How much would I have to spend to pick up a reasonable 26 inch or 32 inch LCD TV? Are there any models you recommend? If price precludes a 32 inch, a 26 inch panel with built in DVD player would be nice. How much would extended warranty go for and is it worthwhile? The big thing with warranty is events which wouldn't be covered, such as lightning strike & misuse. I know retailers usually make their money with add ons such as circuit breaker power boards. Where can these be had cheaply? Edited December 3, 2010 by rockyysdt
rockyysdt
Does this mean that reputable TV discount stores don't exist in Bangkok?
astral
reputable TV discount stores I am not sure what you mean by those words?? Most of the large stores like Tesco, Carrefour, Big C etc have TV departments offering "deals". You just need to shop around. With your sights set on 32" you should be spoiled for choice. To me reputable means that they will still be there when things go wrong and will look after you should you have a warranty issue. Thanks for the lead regarding stores. How many baht would I need for an average sale price in a 32inch. cheers. Edited December 6, 2010 by rockyysdt
astral
To be honest I would not look to the store for after sales service on a TV. Members reports suggest long delays are common. Better to buy a known brand that has a chain of service centres across the kingdom. Sony, Samsung and Toshiba come to mind.
