I just want to get on a plane to Manila tonight, as I want to do something impulsive. I have lived in THai for 7 years and want to see asia but I want to go with the flow. Can I just arrive with a one way ticket, then buy a ticket to continue my trip to Macau when i feel like it, or will I get problems.I want to just go with a credit card and if I need anything I Will buy it.My reward for being frugal for 3 years. a blow out is much required....

Go to the airport....walk up to a random desk and ask where the next plane to any Asian destination is going. Don't bother with visas or anything else....just be on the plane.

Impulsive.....there ya go! :D

I'm going to move this to the "Visas and migration to other countries" forum. But will leave a copy here in the General forum also.

Best of luck!

P.S. I went to the PI a few years ago on Emirates with a one way ticket and had to buy a return or I couldn't get on the plane. It was a fully refundable return, but took me over 60 days to get my money back. FYI....

You will need a return ticket to enter the Philippines, not every passenger gets asked by Philippine immigration to show the ticket, but you might not be allowed to board your flight to Manila without one.

exactly.

EVERY Airline flying into the Phils will ask you to produce a return- / onward - ticket.

I wonder if or how the OP managed to hop on that flight last night without such a ticket. hopefully he will report.

I would be pretty sure he had to buy that return ticket, or he didn't go. But for sure hope he replies back as to what happened.

I've had that problem several times with trips to various countries. Some airlines even require it for trips from the US to Thailand if you don't already have a visa.

such requirement indeed exists and when boarding a flight to Thailand, I was asked to produce my return- / onward-ticket in 90% of the cases.

as far as I know, the only country where such requirement does not exist here in the region is Singapore and Malaysia - at least not for a EU-citizen

Well I just got back from Manila, and a quick update for future reference of what I was asked for:

booked a single ticket with Cebu Pacific on the internet 7 hours before the flight.

I looked at the responces, which I would like to thank you for, and decided to just go....

checked in at BKK airport where I WAS asked for a return ticket, I said I did not know when I wanted to leave or if I wanted to go on to another destination, but the check in was very strict.

So i had to goto the counter next where i was sold an onward ticket, the cheapest was to Taiwan which was quoted at 1400bht, I decided on Macau at 1900bht as I have been before. However both prices were good for a last minute booking. They pronted the booking out and I walked back to the check in to PROVE it was done....all they want to see is a photo copy or copy of an onward ticket I bet you could just make one up as long as it looks official, no hassel.

Bags were checked all OK.

On arrival 21 day visa was granted. Did not make the macau part as I lost track of time, after taking in Manila- angeles and back to manila. Bought a return ticket a week later no problems getting in to Thailand with my NON b visa.

Hope this helps people thinking of going.
