Lamai Landslide

Featured Replies

Just been told that there has been a landslide in Lamai, anyone got any details?

Edited by starcandle

I've been waiting to hear of this happening what with the rain soaked hillsides and dubious building practices. If it hasn't happened yet it will.

There was an article in one of the papers saying that the authorities have identified several areas that are at risk of landslides. You only have to see the huge amount of sand and soil that runs off the mountains to realise that sooner or later something has to give.

Yep, and it will all come as a huge and shocking surprise to the authorities.

I'm just wondering how long it will be before the side of the hill

between Bangrak and Bhoput gives way.

On another site it said there was a landslide blocked the road for a while at Prapa mountain pass where ever that is

Agreed. That one's a bit of a favorite!

Cheers.

No landslide seen on the daily commute from Lamai to Chaweng- i did however witness a LANDSLIDE VICTORY during the last test- rain or no rain- lets keep it up lads! Up the Barmy Army- will have a word and maybe they can blow the Samui Rain away!!

As we did to the aussies ?

Pathetic, absolutely pathetic, You only won by an innings and 71 runs,.What's wrong with you bloody Poms? You don't even how to win properly.Do it right next time.

Must be Thai visa quote of the year- hall of fame that comment sir.... classic banter.........

Pathetic is probably correct. The Poms only beat the Wallabies 35-18 in the real gentleman's game last month.

See http://www.smh.com.a...1114-17s70.html B)

Someone told me the landslide is near the ford garage,

Ford Dealership " garage' is Ban Saket, nowhere near lamai.

B) Yeah, the Poms are all trying so hard to impress so they will look good when they apply for residence next year. Meanwhile black armbands to be worn until the WACA when Warnie comes out of retirement !

He's fat!! would the Board ever countenance him as captain?I think not . A nice beat up by dean Jones. Mass migration of Poms , down under? Is it back to the '50s?Certainly, maybe very true of the Irish. Not much cricket talent ,there though.

Hehehe, to understand the most wonderful game, sport, you can do no wrong by googling www.lords.org/laws and spirit. A full explanation is available there. The next test (5 days) is at the W.A.C.A, commonly called the waca, in Perth, starting on the 15th. You can also try cricinfo fpr descriptions

Can we please get back to the topic of landslides. There is other forums discussing sports etc....

yes i haven't herd of any land slides involving people dying at the time this was posted.

unny how stuff gets twisted. now i know why u need newspapers to back up strong rumers.

just to get it straight. the people that were supposedly electricuted in lamdin during the floods.

first there was 2 forangs and a dog. the 2 forangs lived but sadly the dog died.

as for the swimmer i havent herd of any assumed russions missing at sea. so there is another rumer. as for the land slide. i think that topic has gone off topic is because there is not more information probably because there was no landslide.

just to be clear. then again will find out soon enough.

The "land slide" was in the hills between Bang Por and Nathon across the entry of Four Seasons Ressort. You can see sand all over the place (they dropped in on the side up the hill on the Bang Por side) and a big part of the sandy hillside on the left is missing.

These photos were taken some days later:

PS: Thats the Prapa mountain pass they wrote about in the news papers.

thats why aussies are confused they cannot accept that they were sporn by us poms. What would your great great grand dads say if they herd u talking about them like that.

England is your mother country. Gods save our queen ;)

As they say the meek shall in herit the earth but only when the strong have had enough of it. bit like aussie independence.

I stroke Austrailia like my 4 legged friend. Just wish u were a bit moree loyal. maybe another cricket smashing might sorte u out.

Anyway when i went back to england there was plenty of aussies there. almost like they are banging back on the door trying to get back in.

fancy another biscuit. arhhhh

anyway don't watch cricket. just mathamatics with a pulse. which has been corrupted.

anyway all the good things that us brits invented we have somehow managed to ban. like guns. soon tabbaco. opium, next tit will be the potaote. As for telephones and the great invetion of the police force. the rest of the world can have them. England not so great any more.

Bring back Opium Guns and tobbaco to save our cups of tea and potatoes. I feel a domino coming. infact that is another thing i miss. that feeling of a dominos pizza coming. emmm pizza

Funnily enough.....Last time i was on holiday in Lamai beach. There was a cricket game between four Aussies and four Brits on the beach. Which ended in a monumental piss up.....Oh yes, and a landslide victory to the Brits!:D

Heard a cracker today. Good old Shane Warne been drilling for oil with the Lovely Ms Elizabeth Hurley- Looks like the only way an Aussie will be on top this series....... On a serious note i did notice a few big boulders on way to work from Lamai that had fallen to the drain- near the viewpoint.

yes boulder true. danger !

also true. i would like to have a game of cricket whilst getting drunk. Would like to have a good old fashion punch up cow boy style with the aussies and the Yanks. then shake hands afterwards, wipe the blood off our faces then back to business.

anyone in. drink, ( fosters or calsberg ) Cricket, drink, then check boulders, drink then punch up. drink, then more drinks.
