Anyone know if Amphawa Floating Market is open daily or is it only open during weekend? I know it is opened in the late afternoon.

If I remember correctly it is Friday, Sat and Sun .... in the afternoon until mid evening. There are a couple of homestays in the area worth taking a look at and making a night of it.

cool. thanks. got to put that in my plan during my bangkok trip. Is those agency tour worth it or should i just take a cab from pratunam area down myself and take a walk around there. any idea a taxi trip from pratunam to the amphawa floating market, how much will it cost roughly?

Although going with a tour agency will give you more peace of mind, it is not too difficult to go on your own.

Taxi drivers do not use the meter for trips outside BKK, so you'll need to negotiate an all-in fare with him first - my guestimate is that it will be in the 2,000 Baht region. It's a 2-hour drive from BKK to Ampawa, so it's best to leave BKK before midday, to give the cabbie time for his 4-hour round trip.

If you want to consider a cheaper alternative, there are air-con mini-vans which ply the route between the Victory Monument circle in BKK and Ampawa. I do not know the fare nor the frequency though - my guess is a couple of hundred Baht and every hour or two.

I understand that accommodation in Ampawa is plentiful during the week days, but will be more tight at the weekends.

As mentioned by previous poster taxis dont use the meter for out of Bkk trips.

Every taxi should have a price list for out of Bkk locations.

Dont know how up to date the following is, but it list the fare to Samutsongkhram as 1,000 baht.

Thats assuming you can get a taxi driver to take you there, and one who knows how to get there.

Get on the express way and head for Dao Khanong, should take about 1 1/2 hours from Bkk.

Go there during the weekend, during weekdays most shops are closed..nothing much to see...

Try baan amphawa. I have not stayed there, but my friends have recommended it.
