I always have trouble understanding unusual words - especially when they mis-spell those unusual words lol.

I would render it "trepidation" or perhaps "misgivings". It is the feeling that one has in the outback after just having almost been bitten by a rattler. Every grasshopper sounds like a rattlesnake.
