Obtaining A Copy Of A Lost Birth Certificate

Featured Replies

I am currently living in Argentina and am trying to get a student visa here. I was born in Thailand and although am a US citizen, the Argentine Immigration requires that I present a birth certificate to apply for a student visa here in Argentina. From reading various posts, it seems that the local district (amphur?) of where I was born would have my birth certificate information. My quesiton is how do I locate this office and contact them to ask them questions?

I was born in Ramathibodi Hospital (270 Rama 6 street) in Phayathai district. Does anyone know which local district office would correspond to this hospital and how to obtain the district office's contact information (phone number & address, etc)?

Also, a family member will be travelling to Thailand in the coming month but only staying for a short time. I wanted to contact them to see how long it would roughly take to get the birth certificate and what information needs to be in the letter of authorization for the family member who is requesting my birth certificate for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I think you have a real problem.

A friend of mine just went through this or something similar.

He postponed our golf date as he had to take his wife to the local conucil office to apply for a birth certificate. The original being lost.

From what he said it was straight forward as she had her ID card, proof of identity, and they held the records.

It must have gone smoothly as he turned up barely late.

In your case how will you prove who you are if you have no Thai ID card?

If you know where you was born, and your parents name you may be able to get a copy from the hospital , taking it that you was born in a hospital .i got a Thai friend of mine a copy , She did not have an I D card ,( I do not know why but) , we went to the local Council office and took a member of her family ,(mother) to vouch for her, Any relative or person who can remember you can vouch for you , Maybe you are registered in a blue book from the property your family lived in.
