Hi,

I had posted my question in Immigration Bureau webpage. It seems to me that the consideration of an extension stay for Non-o (not a longstay) will depends on the officer. Also the documentation they may ask for is flexible. They suggest me to go there and ask for details in person. Does it necessary to do that?

The point is, my husband's 90days visa will be good until 22Feburay 2011. He will turn to 50 on April 2011. He would like to take a chance to apply for retirement visa. But as we are both not sure how many days the officer will offer us and what kind of documentation they may need.

If he just apply for re-entry and leave Bangkok to our border will be a better solution? With my greencard, I can't stay outside USA more than 6months anyway.

Where would be the closet place, reasonal place to do the visa run, please advise.

Thanks,

Cat.

As you are talking about a green card (for USA) does that mean you are Thai? If so your husband can extend his stay 60 days to be with you in Thailand. He can not apply for a retirement extension of stay until he is over age 50.

Hi, thanks for your quick respond. I am Thai. As far as I ask around, people say that the immigration office might be pain in the ass if we do not have good reason enough in their opinion for an extension stay. So, I am not sure what should I tell them.

As for your explantion for retirement visa is acknowledge, thanks.

There is absolutely no problem getting a 60 day extension of stay to visit a Thai wife. That is a good reason. You and he appear with marriage proof/id/home register and his passport; fill out a TM.7/attach 4x6cm photo and pay 1,900 baht.
