Iran executes 11 suspected Jundallah terrorists

TEHRAN (BNO NEWS) -- Iran has executed eleven people accused of being a member of the People's Resistance Movement of Iran (PRMI), better known as Jundallah, according to state media reports on Monday.

State media said the group was executed by hanging in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan. They were said to be part of the same group which allegedly carried out twin suicide bomb attacks against a mosque in southeast Iran, killing 38 people and injuring 90 others.

"Eleven members of those belonging to Jundullah terrorist group who had played a role in carrying out terrorist attacks in the province (Sistan-Baluchestan) during the recent months, fighting with police, and martyring several innocent people have been hanged in Zahedan jail," said Ebrahim Hamidi, head of the provincial Justice Department, according to Press TV.

Hamidi said the group had been given 'a fair and public trial' and were eventually sentenced to death for "corruption on earth, fighting against God and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and countering the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Iran accuses the United States of providing money to Jundallah in order for the group to carry out attacks in the country. This claim is based on alleged confessions former Jundallah leader Abdolmalek Rigi made before he was executed earlier this year.
