BANGKOK: -- With efforts initiated and evidence supplied by the British Embassy, police have arrested an Englishman for alleged rape of numerous Thai and foreign children over the years, and filming of sex acts for movies sold by a brother in England.

According to information provided by embassy officials to immigration police, David Charles Taylor, 66, has violated children as young as 18 months, while documenting Thai boys and girls performing sex acts with dogs on many occasions.

Relying on tip-offs that Taylor resided in a housing estate in Nakhon Ratchasima's Muang district and rented a local post-office box, police apprehended the suspect on December 12 while he was picking up his mail.

Taylor was arrested in Britain for similar crimes but jumped bail and fled. British police tracked him and recently found his whereabouts in Thailand after he made an illegal entry to the country in 1998.

A search of his rented home allegedly turned up more than 10,000 pornographic digital images of children and many similar clips in his notebook computer and other digital media. The material allegedly included images of sodomy and oral sex performed on both boys and girls, as well as young victims undergoing sex acts with dogs.

Taylor allegedly transferred the files to be made by his UK-based brother into movies, which were to be sold through recorded media or online to buyers around the world.

Immigration police chief Pol Lt-General Wibool Bangthamai described Taylor as "a threat to the world community and a disgrace to both United Kingdom and Thailand". He did not give details about the nationalities of children in the images who appeared to be foreign nationals.

The officer said Taylor had admitted to charges of statutory rape and possessing child pornography and distribution of such illegal materials. He has been detained pending prosecution.

I was in Pattaya over the weekend staying at a nice hotel near the south end of town, with a couple of my friends from Bangkok. Just down the hall a group of younger middle aged men, a man who sounded like he was from somewhere in Europe, an Arab looking man and a black man were in one room. We heard some screaming coming from that room, sounded like children. We knocked at the door to tell them to be quite. The door opened up a little and my friends and I could spot a video camera one of them studio lights focused on the bed. One of our members of our group spotted a young Thai completely naked on the bed, with bottles of lubrication on a nightstand. One of the westerners speaking with a U.K. accent told the kids to keep their mouths shut and to get into the bathroom, and told his friends to shut the door and don't answer for anyone.

We called the hotel staff and reported the incident. A man came up and knocked on the door and told them to be quite. I spoke to the man who identified himself as being the night manager and told us that nothing was going on and to mind out business.

My friend called Pattaya police and ended up speaking to someone who worked as a tourist police officer. We explained what we had seen and heard from one of the rooms on the same floor, seen a video camera, video lights, lube on the night stand and a naked Thai child still naked on the bed. He said he would report this to an officer on charge. An officer came over and knocked on the door. One of the rooms guests opened up the door and the officer asked if he could come in, which he did. After about 5 min. the police officer left and told the people in the room to enjoy their stay in Thailand and hope they come again.

The officer came down the hall and one of my friends approached him and asked about the room. The officer replied, nothing is going on and it was not our concern.

In the morning as we left our room, the suspects door opened up and an Arab looking man came out and told us to mind our own f***king business about what they door. The black man who spoke like a Nigerian nodded his head agreeing with the Arab guy. The British man escorted like 3 teenage boys and 2 girls out of the room and into an elevator waiting to take them down to another floor.

So why is it they are always found in Thailand? and why is it that it is a known place to run to? Feed him to the sharks!

Because in Thailand it`s no questions asked easy access and easy exit for the puss boils of the world.

Taylor is wanted in Britain on suspicion of molesting boys and girls aged between 18 months and 12 years old, then selling pictures and video of the attacks online, Thai police said.

Oh God, how low can a person sink to?

These people are not animals, because an animal is a higher lifeform, they are vermin pure and simple and must be treated accordingly and dealt with accordingly.

Breaks my heart, truely it does.

It does beggar belief that this sicko can avoid any form of immigration or residence checkups in 12 years of living here - unreal!

Nasty, digusting events and too often, reported people like this seem to gravitate this way to LOS and SEAsia....go figure.

Brewsta

I don't suppose it was really that difficult to avoid immigration checks. There are plenty of people here who go for years without renewing visas.

As others have said, if he has committed crimes in Thailand then that's where he should serve his sentence. A big saving to UK tax payers and an even bigger deterrent to future offenders.

One down and how many child molesters need to go? You are Right about Human Rights in foreign jails but, what about the Right of the children who are suffering? My take and opinion.

I'm sick and tired of people like this obviously disgusting guy. Had a very weird day at school, where an Indian got fired molesting a 12 year old in a toilet at school.

A chat with an older Thai English teacher was telling me what I already knew. They started to hate foreigners because of people like this (*&^%(_

They're the reason why everything's getting more difficult and we all get only a one year contract. What a sick world, I can't eat now, after reading what this guy did.

18 months old? I wanna cry..............

That's a little harsh considering the regularity that reports of molestation by Thai teachers appear in the Thai press.

If it was Cambodia or Vietname he'd probably not even be caught...

Absolute rubbish. The Cambodian authorities and various Western NGOs have for the last three or four years been very active in catching and successfully prosecuting white, male, paedophiles. The problem of course is that said white males are only the tip of the iceberg. The majority of the abuse is actually committed by locals and/or other Asians, most of whom remain undetected, as there is little mileage (and much greater risk) for the NGOs in pursuing non-Westerners.

The Thai Police need to quickly build a case around this guy, so he can perhaps rot in the very worst Thai prison rather than head back to mother england & be given the treats of free public defence & an endless waste of taxpayers pounds whilst he exhausts ever legal avenue in the british system :annoyed: .

The british could throw the Thai govt a few hundred baht each year to house this disgusting grub. I mean if the Thai police suspect he continued to abuse whilst here, whats going on with that?

YES YES YES keep the dirty filthy swine here, 50 years inside should do the trick. Surely the BiB can find something, otherwise why was he here for so long.

It looks like a lot more people - including some on this thread - I dare say - are going to be included in the "kiiddie fiddler" category as I heard on the news today that they are raising the age of consent to 20.Maybe some off you had better get ready to back your bags!

So did they also start to hate their own type, what about all the local rockspiders. Remember the good work done by the grey man, it seems alot of the offenders involved in that stuff were locals, not foriegners. Perhaps you might like to point those HATE mobs in that direction.

Little hint, these grubs are grubs, they come from all walks of life & arnt specifically restricted to any race or creed.

Cheers to the Thai police for finding him in less than 3 weeks from when the arrest warrant was issued. Hope that they do keep him here. The treatment in a Thai prison is what he deserves.

And , some members in here whinge because they have to do border runs and immigration reporting. Next time they should think about this.

What the hell are they doing prosecuting him in UK? Please conclude investigation of the more recent issue of these documented Thai abuses as a result of which, hopefully, he will be separated from his balls in a more appropriate manner. I look forward to seeing the event on face-book, arse-book or whatever.

Couldn't agree more.

Perhaps to be fair and share the prosecutions around, separate him from his balls first and then send them back to the UK for prosecution. Keep the rest of him here to live out his miserable existence chained to a tread mill.

But yes to other comments too, or rather questions, such as to why it took so long to apprehend this jerk, and why so many gravitate to Thailand? ?? Dare I suggest that we may get nearer a solution to this problem (and a few others) if Thailand itself were placed under arrest by a joint authority comprised of the World Health Organisation, Greenpeace, animal protection bodies, Doctors Without Borders, ... (at the exclusion of money wasting American psychiatrists and lawyers)

( Okay, ... I'll take a deep breath and go for walk ..>> )

Hmm .. but I feel that nothing short of a life sentence with hard labour for public officials, including police, for corruption, taking bribes etc. will have any meaningful effect.

("Hard labour" being something useful, such as on that tread mill, in real public service, feeding the power grid.)

Why not take a holiday while we investigate this: "He was originally arrested in Leicestershire county, in central England and charged with 35 counts of child molestation and dissemination of child pornography, police said, but escaped to Thailand during the investigation."

Chances are he was remanded on bail pending further investigations. If he wasnt required to hand in his passport ( as many arent ) it probably wasnt too difficult.

The gaols and courts are overflowing in the UK, so the fact that travesties like this happen shouldnt surprise and shock.

For the older among you, 2 names kim Philby and Lord Lucan. It's not that hard to melt away, regardless of profile or crime

Maybe one day the Thai authorities change their laws and declare war to these predators. Today when you travel in there is only one serious warning and is about drugs; why not another warning about the consequences of molesting innocent children with the same kind of penalty? Till then children will be raped and abused because those who were suppose to protect them simply ignore the problem.

Maybe it is an easy place to hide out and there is many people willing to supply the product for thier lust for a couple of hundred baht. Wth the amount of these people being rounded up in the last few weeks there must be hundreds if not thousands of them in the country.

Some people in the thread seem to have their own hidden agendas, I wonder why that is?

These kiddy fiddler threads never really go well because nobody likes these sort of grubs, except those of a similar ilk. Trying to raise side issues up, in a poor attempt to divert attention away from the real issues :bah:.

Clearly society at numerous levels is failing to protect children from these evil beings. Just this grubs ability to exist at large for so long is a concern to me, surely somebody knew what he was up to and where he was all this time. Where did he get his money from? Its a sad state of affairs.

So much conflicting stuff here that I have difficulty in deciding for myself what even approximates to reality. One report states that RTP issued ( or requested and issued one by a magistrate. I do not know the procedure) a warrant for this creature's arrest in 2001. Where did that gem come from? No proof or confirmation that I have seen.

Leaving the UK is a doddle. Go to Belfast, cross the border, fly out of Dublin, hence no controls to circumvent or record of leaving the UK. Don't have to be a latterday Jackal to know that.

If this miserable specimen of humanity hadn't faced a judge, and presumably a jury, and hadn't been weighed off then the Thai Immigration authorities would have no reason to suspect him. Being a Brit he could obtain a visa at the point of entry AFAIK. Nor would UK Immigration prevent him from leaving. Innocent until proved guilty, remember? As a condition of police bail, the Leicestershire Constabulary could have demanded that he deposit his passport. It seems that they didn't think that he would fly the coop. If he said that he didn't have a passport I have my doubts whether they would have checked this out.

If a warrant for his arrest in the UK had been obtained after he did not meet his bail conditions I would hope that the Passport Office would have been informed so that obtaining a new passport, at least in his name, would have been prevented. Although no mention of having an out of date passport and not having a current visa has been made it seems safe to assume that that was the case. It also seems sensible to assume that since RTP did not have a current address for him ( he was picked up when collecting mail ) then he did not subject himself to reporting every 90 days. That RTP were informed that he was using a postbox in Korat Muang must have been passed by the UK force chasing after this evil man.

Is that a fair summation?

I would hazard a guess that the UK cops searched high and low for a while and then put the case on the back burner. No doubt there were murders, bank robberies, assaults to contend with and resources were switched to cases where there was a greater chance of success in obtaining convictions. At the risk of being labelled racist it needs to be pointed out that Leicester has a very large Asian immigrant population and they are not renowned for being law abiding. Unpalatable though it may be considered maybe it was thought that since the fugitive was abroad and unable to practice his evil ways in the UK then there were more pressing matters to attend to. Then bingo, another paedophile gets arrested and it is found that he has been in touch with the Thai based villain and he might be easily apprehended. Mere conjecture on my part of course and maybe deserving of dumping in the rubbish bin as does much of what is written on TV.

The hang them high crowd might care to follow the lead below. It shows what can easily happen unless the application of the law is left in the hands of the proper authorities. At the time I was living not too far away from this place, a working class housing estate peopled by, for want of a better phrase, those basic in outlook and education. It was so easy for them to put their brains and sensibilities in neutral and form themselves into a mob.
