Four-year-old girl raped, murdered in northeast Pakistan

LODHRAN, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A four-year-old missing girl was found dead and wrapped in a sack in northeast Pakistan on Thursday, local media reported on Friday.

The 4-year-old girl went missing on Wednesday evening after a man identified only as Kashif took her and two of her cousins to an area near their village in the Lodhran district of Punjab Province. Kashif allegedly abducted the 4-year-old girl as they were returning back to their home.

After an intense overnight search, SAMAA Television reported, the body of the young girl was found wrapped in a sack in an abandoned residence. Police say the four-year-old girl was raped before she was murdered.

The report did not say if Kashif was arrested after the body was found, but noted that the parents of the victims have appealed to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani for 'exemplary punishment'.

It is not the first time that a violent sex crime in the Lodhran district made headlines. In 2005, three men brutally raped and murdered three girls aged 5, 7 and 9.
