I have an ED visa at the moment and it expires on February 7. I am aware that as of the 7th I have to go to Immigration and check in to get a three month stamp every 3 months. However, I wanted to go home for about a month in April, but my new stamp would be due on May 6-7. Am I correct in thinking that my visa will be cancelled if I am late in checking in? Is there any way to get around this problem so that I can go home? I was planning on returning around May 11. Perhaps I can check in early? Or get something from Immigration allowing me to check in a few days/a week late? Any help and/or advice is much appreciated, as I don't want to lose my visa. Thanks.

If you visit immigration you do not have a visa but do have a 90 day extension of stay. If you have the paperwork expect you can extend this a reasonable time early - but not late.
