Hi,

does anyone know where to change Thai Baht to US Dollars in Chiang Mai.

I have to do a border run to Mae Sai and would rather pay $10 than 500 bht.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, went to Kasikorn and they changed it no problem. Ive been trying to do this somewhere for the last 10 years and was always unsuccessful.

Burmese Immigration have been reluctant to accept $US for the last few months. Make sure it is a newish unmarked bill, smile and they may accept it. Best to make sure you have a 500B note as well just in case.

There used to a lady with a street stall selling jewellery in front of the bank to the right of the MaeSai border crossing who would sell you a 10USD for 400B. (The 100B saving is currently good for 3 DVD movies in Tachilek ).

Recently though the Myanmar immigration officers have been extremely reluctant to accept USD, demanding 500Baht.
