BruceBanner
Hello Everyone I'm thinking about going to Myanmar in January. I used to go to Myawaddy or Tachilek every month on a visa run years ago. This time i'd like to visit Yangon, Mandalay and hopefully Bagan (looks amazing). I was just wondering if i would need to take anti-malarial tablets ? I've heard there is no malaria in Yangon and Mandalay. Does anyone know if this is the case ? How about Bagan ? Also, what's the best way to see these places ? Fly from Bangkok to Yangon, then upto Mandalay and then Bagan ? Can u book flights whilst in Yangon ? Also, do you have to book accomodation in advance ? Or can you look around when you get there ? What is Bagan like ? Would love to hear anyone's experiences travelling around Myanmar. Thank you for any replies
sabaijai
Re malaria, the risk in Bagan is very, very low, especially in January.

BruceBanner
Thanks for the reply Andy.........i've not decided how long i'm going for yet....maybe just week or abit longer. Probably go to Rangoon for a few days. And hopefully Bagan. I've heard its amazing there. How long does the bus take to get to Bagan from Rangoon ? BruceBanner
Ok cheers for that. Are you allowed to take a mobile phone into Yangon (not to use) ? I read on the internet somewhere that mobile phones get taken off you and returned when you leave. Is that still the case ? Cheers.
