Ive been living in Thailand for 5 years now mainly on Non - Immigrant O type visas.

This year I am looking to work harder on my Thai Language . About time I know.

The school I am using are helping me with a year long visa.

The Non - immigrant ED Visa.

Currently they are sorting out the paperwork. Then I have to head off

to Laos, I believe, to aquire the actual visa before returning to Chiang Mai

and then needing to get my visa extended every 90 days at immigration

here in Chiang Mai.

Question,

Im rather blind with the going to Laos part so excuse these very basic questions.

(and yes Im sure my school will help at the right time but Id like

to get a jump on things).

Also do add anything that springs to mind. You know what its like with these runs

- good too be forewarned!

1 - Where do I actually go to in Laos ? Vientienne I guess ? But whats the actual name

of the place, the building / company I need to go please ?

2 - Before I go Id like to just make sure its ok for UK nationals to aquire this visa

before heading down there. Im guessing it will be fine but anyone

actually know ? Or a website / telephone number for me to contact ?

Any other advice appreciated.

.....................................................................................

The 5 terms at the school for this year plus the visa cost me 25,000 baht.

The terms are 2 hours a day, 5 days a week for 6 weeks.

I will also have to pay 1,900 every 3 months at immigration.

Cheers.... and happy living in, what for me, is a brilliant country

to live in.

1. The Consulate section of The Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane. It is a different physical building than the Embassy itself but locals are well aware of where to get visa.

2. Yes they do provide visas to UK Nationals.

Your school study seems strange unless you mean six weeks total over a years time as for a new 90 day extension of stay you must submit paperwork of school attendance during the previous 90 day period.

Yes lopburi - I worded it wrong.

It is 6 week terms but I have to do at least 5 terms for assistance with visa.

Im fine with that as I want to do that anyway.

And many thanks for your reply - most helpful.
