Hi,

I was directed here to ask my question about NON-O (volunteer) application. I hope it works. An association in Thailand has asked me to volunteer my time and I have agreed to do so.

I have all the requirements ready except there is no information about the formatting/wording of the invitation letter (the association has asked me to help prepare everything) that the association must submit to the embassy issuing the visa. What is needed furthermore is a letter from a Government department that is related to all associations in Thailand. I need the proper formatting/wording so I can give the association a ready package for their signatures and I can go outside of Thailand to make the visa application.

Are there any draft letters or templates that can be used for the 2 letters?

Thanks bunches,

VLT

You are aware that a visa does not permit work and that you would also have to obtain a work permit (with paperwork from NGO) to legally work here? If they can not write a paper perhaps they should consult a legal service (or you do so) and be sure all is done properly.

Thanks for your comment.

Of course I am aware of all needed requirements. I have been briefed accordingly.

Surely there must be a sample letter with correct formatting/wording, or a template?

Seems a bit strange to have to use a legal firm for perhaps 5-10 sentences of text which should be readily available from immigration and/or related agency.

I also prefer to handle this myself as it would offer some insight to the systems in Thailand.

There is no template for such letter.

But I would suggest a letter with charity letter head, shortly stating the nature of the organisation and what your function with them will be and asking for a non-O visa for you.

Have them name you in the letter with your full names, date of birth, nationality and passport number.

It should not be more than half a page of text.

Putting the application receipt for your WP in your package wouldnt go a miss either with the embassies/consulates around SEA

That is a very good point by Soutpeel.

Prior to going abroad, you can go to the labour office to apply for a work permit. They won't issue one, beause you don't have the right visa, but instead will give you a wp3 form. This form indicates that you will get a work eprmit once you have a non-O visa and will help you get the visa from a consulate.
