ZEVENAAR, NETHERLANDS (BNO NEWS) -- An international passenger train and a freight train collided in eastern the Netherlands on Tuesday morning, police said, but there were no reports of casualties.

The collision happened just before noon local time near the city of Zevenaar in Gelderland province, not far from the border with Germany. A total of 147 people, including the engineer, were aboard the international train, which was en-route to Frankfurt in Germany.

Footage from the scene showed two carriage of the international train which had derailed, while one carriage of the empty freight train had also derailed. None of the trains were seriously damaged.

Emergency services said no one was injured in the accident, but a statement from Dutch Railways (NS) said train traffic on the track would be halted until at least Wednesday morning.

On January 8, 1962, at least 93 people were killed and more than 50 others were injured when two passenger trains collided in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It was the deadliest train accident in the country's history.
