I have a trip scheduled to KL, Malaysia with my son who is half Thai, and a national.

I am divorced from his mother, but have some money in the bank, and all of the proper paper

work for my son, ie. birth cert. and passports.

Am I eligible for the one year non immigrant type O visa?

If you are asking about a Consulate issued visa it would depend on where you apply but do not know of any in the area that will provide more than a single entry (as you are expected to extend your stay at Immigration yearly if taking care of Thai child.).
