Where Do You Look For Thai Tutor?

Where do you look for Thai tutor?

I am wondering if anyone knows places around the city I can put up flyers to offer Thai language tutoring. I am a charging a small fee for my lessons but not too much because I really enjoy helping people learn Thai. I will be happy and keen to support Thai learners to communicate in Thai.I am working at an English language school and tutoring people after work. I really enjoy helping people get the tones and Thai language and since I lived in America for a while I understand how frustrating it can be to speak a new language in a different country. So I really want to help more people and have fun! (sa~nuk sa~nuk)

I think I might look around the area of the Thai immigration office when I go there, or perhaps even my embassy, though I don't go to my embassy often.

But maybe a better idea is some kind of very farang restaurant or other hangout? Ideas?

I have looked for tutors both in the US and in TH. In general I don't learn well in groups so a high quality tutor has been a requirement from day 1 for me. Good ones are hard to come by but I have managed to have some great successes. In general, I take a pretty agressive approach to finding the language assistance I desire so I am not sure how typical I am.

In Thailand, I looked for tutors by the following means with various degrees of success:

  1. Foreign language programs at universities or other language institutes. Find someone willing to work outside the business.
  2. Almost any bulletin board at a Thai/Farang interface point.
  3. Bulletin boards at guesthouses.
  4. Word of mouth from guesthouse owners.
  5. Word of mouth from Farang who speak good Thai.

In the USA, there are only 2 methods that have borne any fruit:

  1. The local Thai Temple.
  2. Craigslist

Hope this helps folks looking for a great tutor!

A simple web page offering your services might be a good idea too, I found my tutor in the UK through google.

Do you have a website or anything with your information online or contact details we could pass on to people looking for lessons?

Sorry to bother you again! I 'm quite excited and forgot to ask you to reply me back if you got my reply about my ad before this one. That would be coool . Just want to make sure.

Thanks again,

Oh yeah outside English language bookstores would be another good place.

Hi, yes sorry, I did get the email, will pass it onto anyone I know who needs lessons.

I'd definitely recommend putting up a simple webpage. Even its only one page with basic details on or just a wordpress.com site

Cheers,
