Arriving In Bangkok At Midnight

Featured Replies

My flight arrives in Bangkok at midnight and i am wondering if i am going to have problems finding a hotel. Will i be able to check into a hotel between 12 and 1 a.m. or am i going to have to stay awake and wander around or just sit somewhere??thanks in advance for any tips.

No problems however you would probably be better to make an advance booking especially at the budget end. There are also hotels in the airport area. Als if you make a booking through a site like latestays.com you are likely to get a considerable reduction than the walk-in rate, especially at top to medium quality. The other advantage of an advance booking is you can tell the taxi desk at the airport where you want to go as opposed to cruising around looking for a place; I think you'll find public transport out of the airport at this time is very restricted.

thanks. i will book in advance then. the airport hotels are far too expensive so i'll probably book in the khao san area. i guess also i should book for the night before since i will be arriving at midnight...i dont think hotels would have early check in at that time.

I have stayed at Convenient Grand Hotel, 10 minutes from the airport. They are open 24 hours a day (most hotels near the airport are). I booked with Agoda.com and paid USD 27. They offer a free ride to and from the airport but I opted for a taxi for 100 Baht (the shuttle van comeonly every hour). The hotel is very clean with a decent pool. The food is good too and they have a 24 hours mini supermarket and internet access at the lobby. I arrived at 4AM and left at noon the next day with no problem. The walk-in rate was about USD5 more.

Many good site to book your hotel, like agoda.com. Indeed cheaper than the usual walk in fee.

Yes, you should book for the day before.

If you want to go to Khao San road, I belive the airport bus is still operating.

It's important that you tell them you will be arriving very late in the day - ie probably 2am in the morning.

If you don't do that there's always the possibility they will have you down as a no show and rent your room to someone else, then you will be stuck.

A taxi at that time would run you 400 baht tops from the airport to Khao San

By the time you have done the walk get through immigration and collect your bags you will be looking at around 5am :) so don't worry!

The best deal is crash at one of the nice internet cafes in their luxuries chairs 4 hours 40 baht night rate :P the attendants are normally kipping as well!

thanks for all the info. Convenient Grand Hotel does look nice for the price. might be better to stay there one or two nights and then head to Khao San rd.
