Samui Weather In September

Featured Replies

I have read quite a few posts regarding weather in Thailand and Samui specifically. My question is this. Is the rain usually a heavy downpour for an hour or so or is it often day after day of rain.

My wife has some friends visiting from Peru and they all want to head to Thailand for a couple of weeks. September is the only option.

What's your recommendation? Better to give it a miss and head to Bali or should they be ok?

Are there any areas on Samui that are prone to flooding? What's the water like? Ok to go swimming?

I know Bangkok is not Samui, but are there any areas there that they should not stay in (due to flooding)?

Thanks

You won't get any flooding in September. There is always rain but not too much and all things being equal you will get a fair amount of sunshine.

Maybe can get half an hour shower around 6PM.

Nice time to visit.

Average rain Samui:

September should be ok. Samui is a tropical island so there is always some rain.

Oct , Nov , Dec tends to be the rainy season.

One off topic post deleted.

September is usually! very lovely with only a little rain. but no guarantees it can rain any time. Even in April.

yes, any time!

But under normal circumstances September is still fine, mid-end October is the time when it get's "risky" weather wise, beginning of the north-east monsoon season...

September will be fine, have a look at the Samui info and weather blog which has archives for each month, with daily weather updates and monthly summaries that go back 4 years by now.

weather fine in september. No probs for holidays. Expect some rainstorms that wont last too long, but its nowt like it is end october or november.
