Girl wounded as bricks batter bus

BANGKOK: A 13-year-old girl sustained serious head injuries requiring surgery yesterday after a vocational student threw bricks at a bus in Bangkok's Bang Khunthien district.

Pruksa Budsadi, 17, confessed to police that he had thrown the bricks at the number 147 bus but not intending to target Kanchana Impan, a passenger on it.

He said he was angry that the bus had not stopped to let him and about 30 of his friends get on at a bus stop on Kanchanapisek Road.

Most were first-year students from Ratchasitharam Technical College, police said.

Police are holding a brick stained with blood as evidence and say that the bus was dented in three places.

Police have yet to press charges against Pruksa, pending an investigation and the questioning of witnesses. They have pressed charges against other students found at the scene for involvement in damaging the bus.
