I have just done a few border runs to Cambodia and was charged as follow:

- Nothing to exit Thailand

- 1,100 baht to enter Cambodia (Visa fee)

- 300 baht to exit Cambodia

- Nothing to enter Thailand

Is this was everybody else pays?

I have later heard that it is a different price if you pay in US-$. Is that correct?

the only fee you should pay is for cambodian visa, 1000 baht , or 20 U.S. plus 100- 200 baht from the visa shed, no exit fee from cambo, can also get cambo visa online.

I also payed the 300Baht exit fee, but only because my stay in Cambodia was very short ~15 min. If you stay one night there will be no extra charge. Not sure whether this 300Baht are pocket money or current law/regulation.

This is possibly a mix of information from the Laos Visa run, where the fee is 1400 baht but dependant on nationality it can vary and if you pay is US dollars it is cheaper than baht, example 1400 baht against 35 doolars which is actually only just over 1000 baht.

I will do a visa run to Cambodia in March, when I went in October I was charged 800 bts as I crossed the border, plus 2 very nice chaps in military type uniforms charged me 100 bts each to take the paperwork to the desk for processing ( I think one might have been riding shot gun for the other in case international passport smugglers attacked) when I left the building I was told to go to that big building over there>>>>> but before I got there I was asked to sit down by a "policeman" well he was wearing apolice unifirm, he asked for 200bts! What for? I will take your pasport, fast track, back in 5 minutes, he was too! So all in all I was only out of Thailand for 45 minutes. 800 +200+200. Watch how many days they give you when you re enter, I got 14 days when it should have been 90, must have been a long night as this was 0800 hours!

They first wanted to charge me THB 1000. But when I started arguing about the rate they use to convert USD to THB. They agree to charge THB 800 only lol. A middle-man stayed with us. I suspect the THB 200 being his commission. When I went back I was escorted by my travel agent contact. I didn t pay any fee to go out. It seems to me that cambodia is very corrupted

Interesting to see there's always suckers around. Just back this evening from a poipet trip today. Rode my bike down, so gas was about 600b. The visa is $20, you give them $20, that is all. They quietly asked for 100b, I quietly said no, sat down and pulled out my book. 5 minutes later I'm handed my passport. You enter Cambodia, turn around and come back.

I picked up the $20 a few days ago at an exchange booth for around 640b I believe.

So altogether, about 1220b for the entire trip, not including KFC lunch, and a sandwich and coffee breakfast.

If you cross the border at Arunyaprathet / Poipet, it's best to get an eVisa prior to travel. It saves a page in your passport.

Also you tell any "policeman" who asks that you are going to the casinos to gamble and are not returning the same day. This saves any "same day" return tea money.

This always makes me laugh, I mean think about it mate.

There is no exit fee.

I actually noticed today that there's big posters up at the Thai exit hall telling people this.

If someone asks you how long you're staying, you either ignore them or say 2 week. Or as I like to do, tell them I'm coming straight back, if they say you need a one day stamp or exit fee or some such ludicrous nonsense I laugh and tell them that that's bullshit and they're lying, pullout my phone and focus on their namebadge, then ask them to repeat it. They soon runaway in fear.

The last two times I just stamped out, sat down on the otherside of the guardrail, handed some kid my passport and $20, and popped my headphones on. About 15 minutes later he brings my passport back.

I stamp out and stamp in. Total spent $20. Total time mauve 30 minutes.

Jaysus, stuck in a minivan! The horror of it. If you cant afford a nice motorbike then fly mate. Although you might not be able to afford that either.

Still though, a minivan! Desperate times.

It's only 3 hours. Whats the big deal? It used to take nearly that long to get to Pattaya from the airport, also in a minibus. Never did me any harm. As for flying, that would be insane from where I am and would take at least 24 hours and cost many times more.

With the bus I start at 7am at my hotel and get back by 3, having had lunch.
