I am currently applying for citizenship for my wife and step daughter and whilst im aware that my wife has had to be living in the UK for 3 years does the same rule apply to my stepdaughter application as she came to the UK at a later date.

Question 1.1 - Please indicate the section of the british nationality act 1981 under which you would like the application considered. If anyone could explain what i should answer for that question i would be most grateful.

I assume that your second question is about your daughter's application, as the adult form (Form AN) does not ask this.

Guide MN1 provides the answers.

If she applies at the same time as her mother then, assuming she is under 18, she does not need to meet the residency requirement. See page 12 of the guide.

She applies under Section 3 (1). See page 4 of the guide.
