Marriage to a Thai by foreigner

When a District Office issues a marriage certificate, are details of the marriage to the foreigner recorded on any of the wife’s Thai documents? e.g.,  wife's ID card, wife's Land Registration, or wife's Passport.

Also, when marrying a foreigner, I assume that the wife is allowed to retain her Thai surname - and thereby avoid having to amend any of the above documents?

No, but she is *obligated* to make the surname name change at her local amphur within 90 days. She can NOT have her old Thai surname.

She will then get a new ID card with the new surname.

If she want to own land after that, the Land Department will require a document from you, as the foreign spouse, saying that it's purchased with her money and you will not have any claims whatsoever. Old land she has, or new inherited land, she can still own.
