Lite Beer 9743
THAI raises funds for the construction of a medical center in honor of HM the King BANGKOK, 2 February 2011 (NNT) – Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) has launched a fundraising campaign for the construction of the Sayamindradhiraj Medical Institute in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The “Ruam Jai Thai for the King” project has been kicked off by THAI, the national flag carrier, with an aim to collect funds towards the construction of the Sayamindradhiraj Medical Institute at Siriraj Hospital in commemoration of HM the King’s 84th birthday anniversary on 5 December this year. Under the campaign, a 20 THB donation is deducted from every THAI ticket sold on both domestic and international routes and goes directly to the fund. Charity events will also be organized by the company as an opportunity for the public to take part in the effort. Furthermore, members of the Royal Orchid Plus program can help by donating their miles, at a minimum of 1,000 miles, which will be converted into cash. Those who wish to make donations can do so at www.thaiairways.com/rop or contact Royal Orchid Plus staff at telephone number 02-3561111 as well as via e-mail at [email protected]. The “Ruam Jai Thai for the King” project will run until 4 December 2011 and is expected to raise a total of 84 million THB. -- NNT 2011-02-
bangon04 3410
What will this new Medical Institute be used for? The purpose is not mentioned in the article. Or is it not important what it is used for?
MaiChai 1625
If you go past the hospital on the river you can see that it is already a rather huge and well developed complex. Thus I can't see why it needs more expansion! Thai Air needs to explain better what this is about. Its to easy to jump to conclusions. In my opinion instead of building another impressive facility, it would be better to make specialist/expensive procedures more accessible to poorer Thais. WilliaminBKK 304
I donated 14K ROP miles I had in my account to close it out. I use another Star Alliance Frequent flyer account to accrue points. Looks like a good cause.
