going to be there in 2 weeks and mentioned here before, how is that new mall doing being built? Is there a scheduled opening?

By all appearances the new Central Plaza Chiang Rai Mall is progressing quickly.

Probably only a few more months left til opening.

i also saw somewhere that there will be a Tops supermarket along with the Robinsons and Cineplex and some big electronics store....i am a bit surprised that McDonalds apparently isn't plannng a location...but maybe that is a good thing as i would hate to see the CR young lovelies get asses the size of Texas...

Looks like it will be well into April before opening but they have been working very fast.

At the moment they are also erecting a footbridge across the highway. Looks like we are going to have lots of traffic jams from now on.

Thanks, everyone, especially the picture. I will be leaving mid-March and miss the opening but looks like it will a neat place to go later. That place should do a lot of business with a lack of competition in the Rai.

I dont care when it opens I wont shop there, I dont have the dosh like you rich people.

Nothing wrong with more shops, it's just the people they staff them with that is so depressing.

I recently went round all the little and big phone stores at Big C to get an accessory for the phone, and failed completely, even with my wife's linguistic expertise.

Totally different in Chiang Mai. First shop I go to.......... success.
