I receive pension from my home country and the payer wants this certificate certified by Embassy, Consulate, Police authority etc. I would like to avoid going to Bangkok just for this, but a thai friend here in Kalasin asked the police and they said they wanted it translated to thai. I sent an email to the Immigration Office in Sakon Nakhon and they cannot do it either. I dont think there is any translator here in Kalasin. A tip what to do, anyone?

If you use Microsoft Office 2010 (2007) you can type in English and then go to the "revier" where spell check etc is and there is a link that goes online and transfers English into Thai perfectly however that still does not give you the official red stamp from a Thai consulate but you could go to a local lawyer that can do this as a "Notary"

Also you don't need to take up citizenship as it is very strict and why would you want to anyways? I think they want a "Letter of Residency" the same if your buying a car or bike etc and this is done at the closest Immigration office to you in Kalasin

Not quite sure what is going on here, the payer of the pension wants something certified by the Thai authorities? Sounds a bit odd.

Anyway, I would suggest you proceed as follows.

1) Contact your embassy and ask them for a list of approved translators.

2) Pick someone from the list and phone them. Describe your requirements.

3) Repeat #2 until you find someone you can work with.

4) Post/EMS original documentsto translator. Find out if you need Ministry of Foreign Affairs certification of the translation. If you do, the translator will be able to arrange this.

5) Sort out payment to translator and get them to post/EMS all documents back to you.

You should be able to arrange all of this by telephone and post. Not really necessary to travel to Bangkok just to get documents translated.

I normally just go to my amphur to get a statement, but they do want to see a translation of the request in Thai.

You could ask at a government (high school) school if they can help you with a translation of English into Thai. That is how I often get my documents officially translated, with a stamp of the government school by a government teacher.

I thank you all. I will go to a high school in town and see if they can translate and then go to the police station. GuyDow: If the payer of the pension does not get this certificate back, signed by me and certified by Embassy, Consulate, Police Authority etc (that I am alive), they assume that I am dead and stop paying...

Re "payers of pensions," same with U.S. Social Security, they want me to sign and return a form every your or two. I remember a couple years back a friend who's got some years on me actually had to physically appear at the U.S. Consulate to show that he was alive. Guess there's some scammers out there, and some foreign spouses, who've collected SocSec in the past after the intended recipient has croaked.
