Westerner
I like the Thai cigarettes "Falling Rain". I'm going back to the UK for a while and would like to take some with me. I know I'm only allowed 200 duty free, but does anyone know if you can take more if you pay the duty? Thanks. W

Crossy
I'm reading this as you are taking the ciggies INTO the UK. Have a look here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/budget2010/march/bn60.pdf And here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/tax-and-duty.htm it may be worth giving the helpline a call. Go through the red channel and declare what you have, duty is 24% of purchase price (so bring the receipt) plus 120 Quid per thousand (I'll bet that's per thousand or part of a thousand too)
IanForbes
How many cigarettes can you take, you ask? I've seen people who take the whole package if it's laying on the table..

ukrules
You also have to watch it here as I once read that they don't like people personally importing cigarettes and will take any opportunity to seize them regardless of you offering to pay the duty, this might have referred only to people trying to smuggle them through the green channel though. I would definitely recommend that you give them a call before doing this to clarify the situation. There will also be VAT to pay as well as the duty. The VAT goes onto the full value including the duty and it's increased to 20% recently.
