Getting A Thailand Visa In Chennai India

Featured Replies

OK, read around and can’t find anything solid on this.

First, my plan. I am a 47 y/o US citizen who will be staying in Thailand for a month or so, then traveling to Chennai, India for hip resurfacing surgery, then back to Thailand for three or four months to recover before I head back to work.

Plan on about 25 days in Thailand on 30 day stamp, then off to the Philippines for a week, then back to Thailand for three weeks. Then, off to India for the operation. I can make the first part with just the entry stamp, but after I return from the surgery, I really want to be able to not worry about having to travel for a month and a half or so.

Does anyone know if there would be any problem getting a 90 day visa for a US citizen in Chennai?

And, if anyone has any experience in such things and knows a better way, I am open for suggestions.

A normal tourist visa allows 60 days and can be extended 30. You could obtain for one or all your visits.

Chennai is not difficult to get a tourist visa for Thailand for western people, you only have to be a little patient. (I can only compare with Amsterdam)

Yup ^^^, Chennai is no problem, application via VFS, look here for information:- http://www.vfs-thailand.co.in/wheretoapply.html

You DO need to show tickets for all the entries you're applying for, but I've never been asked to show proof of funds or the '$500 endorsement' whatever that is.

Being a Brit the consul has bent the rules slightly on occasion and allowed travel with only a 1 way ticket, Indian nationals need a fully booked itinerary.
