Footballer Steven Robb Complains About Visa Runs To The Sun

Featured Replies

I spent 7hrs on a bus just to get my visa stamped at a casino

STEVEN ROBB will make his debut for Thai Port in the Asian version of the Community Shield on Sunday - but only after spending all night on a bus going to a casino to renew his visa.

The ex-Dundee United and St Mirren star made the switch to Bangkok last month after leaving the Buddies and he's loving life in the Thai capital.

As a foreign national, the 28-year-old winger is only eligible for a 30-day visitors' visa at the moment.

So with it set to expire this weekend, he was sent on a late-night dash to Poipet on the Cambodian border to have his documents updated.

Robb was picked up along with English team-mate Jay Harris by a specially chartered coach at 3am yesterday morning.

The seven-hour journey, which took them out of Thailand, dumped them at a casino for breakfast - where officials stamped their passports - then ferried them back to Bangkok in time for training.

...thereby letting the world know that he's working illegally without a work permit.

.....and the apropriate Visa. :whistling:

he says about having to have two visas before the club issue a WP, what a load of B*llocks. Seems the club do not know the rules and are probably stringing him and his mate on.

In the UK a player cannot play football without a WP being issued, here it seems they play without being registered at all.

^ and that surprises you?

Do they read the Sun at immigration?

No Immigration do not read the Sun, they read Thaivisa....

If a player is not registered correctly and injures another player so seriously, who pays the insurance, if there is such a thing!!!

Do they read the Sun at immigration?

Naaaaah! they only drool over page 3.

Whoever reads the Sun, except for page 3? :)

There are 4 reasons to read The Sun :- Page 3, the Telly, and Hagar the Horrible :)

I wonder if Immigration will wait until he scores before they pick him up.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Welcome to Thailand bub!

Isn't this story absolutely facinating .... :whistling:

I tried to comment on The Sun website regarding his illegal act, and they have refused to post my comment,

So I felt duly bound to report this illegal worker to the Thai Immigration, why should we all have to follow the rules and regulations, and this person doesn't.

And he has shouted about it, Idiot!

I tried to comment on The Sun website regarding his illegal act, and they have refused to post my comment,

Yup, my post in a similar vein failed to get past the Mods too :(

Must add that I also posted on the Scottish Sun website, still no comments there!!!!!

He says he got another 30 days I thought you only got 14 if you use a land crossing. Maybe he paid T money

Maybe he thinks he got 30 days and didn't check the stamp.

He has transit visa "S" and that's why he get 30 days?

http://www.thaivisa.com/293.0.html

Transit visa Thailand

1. REQUIREMENTS

This type of visa will be issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for the following purposes :

- to participate in sports activities (sportsmen, sportswomen, etc.)

(category "S") *)

5. VALIDITY OF A STAY

Travellers coming to Thailand with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period not exceeding 30 days at any time.

* Sports men/sports woman: Those who are scheduled to stay in the Kingdom longer than one month , Non-Immigrant Visa category "O" can be issued to them

Says that he can get a Non Immigrant O Visa, so why is he still getting Transit visas, obviously the club do not know or he is being strung along by them.

Really? I'm not surprised he complained. That's going to be hotter than KL in the sweaty season.

Maybe he has 2,3 or 4 entry in visa and club don't hurry because that. Unnecessary paperwork if he fails in field and get sacked after few games. Do they need workpermit playing on that transitvisa time or not?

Typical Scot,,,tight as asroles.....going by bus, a few thousand Baht more he could have flown to Penang and back quicker

Hard to tell whether you're joking or not. If you are, fair enough. But if you're not you really need to get a life.
