I don't understand your point. Like all walks of life, there are different levels of ability. I used to play a fairly decent level of amateur football (both men's and Vets) and played with and against some lower-level - mainly 3rd/4th tier - ex-pros. I wouldn't call them 'superstars' but, more often than not, they stood out as the best players on the pitch. However, if you had put them on the same pitch as "mediocre" World Cup players such as Gusto, Rabiot, Toney, Chalobah, etc or similar players from the past, I'm almost certain that most of them would have been out of their depth.
