backfromouterspace 1
The oldies are coming over soon and we will drive around the north. Want 3-4 nights somewhere in Chiang Rai or Golden Triangle area. Have looked at places on the main hotel booking sites and there doesnt seem to be a great deal of choice for somewhere 4 star, stylish, but not a huge resort and not super luxury. Around the 3000 Baht a night per room bracket is fine. Any recommendations for places that arent listed on Agoda, Wotif, Asiatravel etc Thanks
bifftastic 684
There's a new place just opened in Chiang Saen, it is on Agoda http://www.agoda.co.uk/asia/thailand/chiang_rai/siam_triangle_hotel.html It was being built when I was there last, but Ms Tastic has seen it finished and is suitably impressed. It's right on the Mae Nam Khong and is just outside the town making it around a 10 minute drive to the Golden Triangle town of Sob Ruak. Worth a look, and seems fairly luxurious
traveltim 0
You may want to check out the Starbright Hotel in Chiang Rai- it is a small, sophisticated but not pretentious place. The very friendly owner is delightful and speaks perfect English. The rooms are new and very very large. It is in the city near the night market but it is not noisy at all inside. Stayed there for a few nights while visiting Golden Triangle area and were happy with every aspect of this small place, including the food. I think rates are from 1995- 2995 THB per night and this includes breakfast www.starbrighthotel.com Cheers.
wileycoyote 159
My vote goes to "The Legend"-boutique style, excellent atmosphere ,furnishings & outstanding food. Second choice the Dusit Island ,older but grand in style & design Both in Chiang Rai
backfromouterspace 1
Thanks guys, The Legend is Plan B, seems a bit nicer than the Dusit that looks a bit faded. But both a bit pricey. Siam Triangle looks good - hadnt noticed that before.
